Sportsplex Gets Local CoverageThe Charles County SportPlex &
Learning Center was recently featured in the Southern Maryland
News. The 3-story, 105,000 square foot facility is currently
under design, and will serve as a regional recreational/ educational
facility in the Waldorf area. When completed, the center will be
the largest green building in Charles County Maryland.

NoVA Happy Hour Networking
In coordination with Arlington-based CVT Contracting, LAND Engineering
will be hosting a happy hour networking event for Northern Virginia
area contractors, builders, architects, and engineers on Tuesday

USGBC-LEED Pilot Workshop
Mr. Lloyd A. Ntuk, PE, LEED AP was selected to attend the pilot
workshop for "Green Building Design & Construction: The LEED
Implementation Process." Mr. Ntuk provided evaluation and
feedback for this USGBC Faculty led course that will soon be available
to the public. The course is designed for professionals familiar
with the principles of green building to incorporate best practices
with regard to LEED implementation for project
certification.
Utah Traffic Design
LAND Engineering, plc has been awarded a contract for the design and
layout of multiple intersections in Cache County, and Davis County
Utah.
Partnering with Riley Transportation Consultants, Inc. (Salt Lake City,
Utah) the designs will provide access for Geneva Rock Products, Inc.'s
mining operations. Geneva Rock Products is an affiliate with
Clyde Companies, a regional leader in heavy civil construction.

LEED 2009
LEED 2009 introduces regionalization to the internationally successful
rating system. The new LEED rating system will enable projects to
gain bonus credits by focusing on our region's specific environmental
issues. Over the course of the past several months, Lloyd Ntuk
has served on a task force assigned to develop this system for the
mid-Atlantic/Northeastern corridor. Mr. Ntuk presented a summary
of his efforts for the DC area before the USGBC National Capital Region
chapter on October 28.

StormCon 2008
Mr. Lloyd A. Ntuk, PE, LEED AP presented a technical paper at the
seventh annual StormCon held on August 3 to 7, 2008, at the Orlando
World Center Marriott in Orlando, FL. StormCon, the North
American Surface Water Quality Conference and Exposition, is the
largest conference for disseminating techniques and technologies that
fulfill the USEPA’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System
permit program (authorized by the Clean Water Act). StormCon is
presented by Forester Media, Inc. the publisher of Stormwater
magazine. Mr. Ntuk’s presentation focused on site design issues
associated with Low-Impact Development (LID), and the Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. |
